Physiognomy (from the Gk. "physis" meaning 'nature' and "gnomon" meaning 'judge' or 'interpreter') is the assessment of a person's character or personality from their outer appearance, especially the face. The practice was well accepted by ancient Greek philosphers. It is now being revived again as some new research indicates that people's faces can indicate such traits as trustworthiness, social dominance and aggression. This "science" is something Geoffrey Chaucer uses in his discussion of characters in The Canterbury Tales.
The question to you is: Can you judge a book by it's cover? Can you tell if someone is trustworthy just by looking at them? Why are some people trusted right away and others feared? Is this a valid science? 50 words. Keep it clean!
